I can’t believe the ignorance regarding Fiero and the supposed fire risk. I’ve seen an F-150 catch fire due to cruise control and so what?! any vehicle fire is going to be sensational! I have 168k miles on my V6 Fiero GT and it’s still here! GM had an initial sabotage batch of bad 4cyl in 84, and the wire junction was moved away from the manifold in 85-88. The car outsold Corvette and profitable every year it was made. The problem was GM overproduced 84 model year and saturated the 2 seater mkt
I wonder if GM will continue to market the Pontiac in Canada despite it being dropped here in the U.S. after 2009? Wicked!
hehe, wicked
I think I read about that AFTER getting my 1985 XD
Wow! That is rare! Love the Fiero — my fav. car. Thanks for posting.
The ’84 model in particular had a high failure rate of its engine rods that posed a fire risk if ejected from the engine. I drove my ’85 4-cylinder model 245K and had no problems.
lmao! It’s great how they could get away with such cheesyness back then.
yeah, exactly like the panels on a brand new Corvette! Would you call them shit, too? I suppose YOUR car has a 100% rust and corrosion proof body, which is not made up entirely of light weight composites which bolt directly to a space age subframe, like the Fiero was? Sure, I bet!
About 200 fires occurred only to ’84 model year Fieros. ALL ’84 Fieros were recalled, every last one, with modifications being made to eliminate the fire hazard. Several parts were redesigned for ’85 and later Fieros and all 130,000+ 1984 Fieros were retrofitted with these parts, basically new exhaust shielding to keep oil off of it.
You can ID it as an 85 GT because of the grey ground effects. If you look close in the rear view (at 0:15 sec) at the decklid, it does say Fiero GT which, being a notchback also provides positive ID that it can only be an ’85 GT.
not sure thats an 1986…maybe an SE. Looks more like a 85 GT. Thanks for posting.
arrg i was hopin to c the cross eyed guy.. or is that d.i.a.m.o.n.d diamond lol
indeed…..the 84′s have my heart =D but perhaps thats because i have that year
ahhhh, yes but saturns are also plastic as well as mannnnnny other cars
the 84 fieros do due to some kind of oil problem..you can fix it though i have an 84 and mine hasnt had that sort of problem though..very rare
Didn’t Fieros commonly have engine fires?–or am I thinking of another car? Wicked…lol.
stay away from the LANGLOIS, do not seek the sandblasting
shit plastic car
Lisa Best is now the Morning DJ on COOL-FM in Winnipeg.
Sexiest 80′s GM car
clean the bottom so it is free of dirt and rust then go for it! have a great day!
Lisa’s still at Golbal where she’s been (formerly CKND) for years… just doing citywatches once in a while i think.
