The song is “Changes” by Alan Price. It can be found on the “O Lucky Man” Original Soundtack.
the orginal tune is an actual hymn what a friend we have in jesus
what’s the name of the song ?
She’s hot in the advert, remember it well. As for the fur coat, get a grip, it’s only a bloody animal. Peoples suffering concerns me far more than skinning some mangy rodent and making it into a coat.
odd my grandads got the original GTI locked in his garage, it stills a perfect runner today, although it rarely goes out the garage.
English woman are so sexy
I met her once ..she brought a puppy off a freind..very down to earth lady
Fabulous AD ~ Paula looks fab in the fur coat and those cars were reliable
GREAT AD
Words cannot describe how much I love this advert!!
I agree. By the way do you know where to find the “Casino” advert to which you refer? If that is the one in which I am thinking I have been looking for it quite a while with no success. Has “Casino” the same music as this one? Maybe I am swapping them in my (admittedly not so goog) memory. Thanks.
Its only the 8v golf, id of gone for the 16v
Superb advert. It certainly made Paula Hamilton a household name. Very stylishly shot by David Bailey. One of my favourites – only superceded by VW’s Golf GTI “Casino” advert.
itunes with the alan price
Can i come round for tea?!!
She’s been house-sitting sor Sarah Miles for months but turned up here the other day in a 2005 silver Alfa (big improvement) looking very well.
It launched Paula Hamilton to fame; suddenly she was everywhere after this.
There were at least two version of this ad – one was used in Canada, and it showed her getting into the other side of the car to drive away. Because of protests over the music, the music (at least in the Canadian edition) was then changed. Anyone have either of the Canuck versions?
WOW!! Lucky you!! Paula was my ‘dream babe’ who i fell in love with the fist time i saw this advert.
I know she had a bit of a tough time in life after and trust everything is now ‘back on the rails’? Give her my love!
There are so many golden classic ads out there but this is one of my favourites because of the tune and oh look it’s Princess Diana getting into a Volkswagen Golf.
I always loved this video because I thought it was very stylish.
After the British Volkswagen importers sold this press car it was bought by someone who lived about 400 meters from the Abbey Road Studio, in one of the most expensive corners of London.
It’s on emule – search for “Alan Price Changes” and also on torrents. You might know he is a very respected as a musician.
I seem to remember the church brigade objected to this commercial being shown on a Sunday because the “What a friend we have in Jesus” song basis, so the aired the ad very late, about 3 minutes before midnight Saturday.
This advert raised commericals to a new level of art, a classic, even after all these years, todays commerical makers can learn lessons from this one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well spotted. That was part of the joke. Paula is my girl next door now – literally. She drives an old green Hyundai now though.
