@80sCommercialVault Yes, you’re 100% correct! Dave Thomas did started his Wendy’s commercial back in 1989 right up until his death in 2002. He was the founder of Wendy’s, but I do missed those commercials when Dave was still around.
@UmbrellaAl If it isn’t selling gum…it’s not the same thing.
I was so pressed over that Chicken Nugget Shanghai as a kid. I used to bother my dad to buy it every time we went out, even though I sucked at using the chopsticks. lol
@WVClaydawg No, it’s David Hartman. The host of Good Morning America. Who looks nothing like John Tesh.
Was that John Tesh in that GMA promo?
Hole-Y Shnikes! This is the best commercial block of products that no longer exist! I completely forgot about Shanghai nuggets and Tone soap! You do the world a great service. It brings a tear to my eye every time, figuratively.. oh who am I kidding, LITERALLY!
Levis 501. That’s all I wore from age 5-25.
@80sCommercialVault Thanks you just settled a $50 bet for me. I tried telling my friends it wasn’t him but they refused to listen.
@Boogeyman80 He didn’t start appearing in Wendy’s commercials until 1989.
These are some really great ones! I swear it still seems like yesturday…
The Chicken McNuggets Shanghai campaign was pretty effective, at least in my case. I still think about those like once a week. Really miss the Teriyaki sauce. Was really surprised McD’s didn’t try to semi-resurrect that campaign for the Olympics in Beijing. IIRC, they also had a kid-targeted campaign for it with the McNugget puppets being totally non-PC and wearing conical straw hats with buck-teeth. The latter may have been a different campaign, though I definitely remember seeing it.
@TEEFUS87 Duh.
@usamimiproductions
The Pizza Huts in my town do have salad bars all the time. I didn’t know some of them didn’t.
awesome Levi’s ad
a “hamburger w/ a bun” as opposed to a buger w/o a bun?
mayonnaise on shrimp? eww
is that chicken nuggets ad for real? stereotype, anyone?
Big Red gum rocks!
the potato chip guy looks like my grandaddy. crazy
@80sCommercialVault
Okay, thank you. I graduated from high school in ’86. I remember these commercials (and 70′s also) except the Chicken McNugget Shanghai one. I don’t even remember that being served there also. Probably because I hardly at there.
When did Dave Thomas start doing the Wendy’s commercials? I haven’t seen too much of him in the Commercial Vault.
OMG, I loved Justin Wilson when I was a kid. I use to always say “I Gar-ON-Tee” all the time. Made my parents crack up
Did that big red commercial just say ‘make love a little longer’? Alternative to Viagra! lmao
@80sCommercialVault I wish they should bring this jingle back, best commercial ever for Big Red. I’ve seen this a billion times over the years.
I didn’t notice the first time through but the Levi’s song is extremely catchy.
@troodon311 If you probably noticed, the Levi’s “501 Song” was done by none other than Bobby McFerrin. He had his only big hit called “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” back in 1988. I love this song, this brings back memories, but I do have the LP “Simple Pleasures”.
i remember my mom getting Shanghai Mcnuggets…it was my first encounter with chopsticks. Kind of weird that they got rid of teryaki sauce and chose to keep the other two.
I miss River Country in Disney World.

Benji Gregory of Alf fame is the kid with the hat in the macdonlds commerical.
RIP Justin Wilson, I used to watch your cooking show religiously!
A McFortune Cookie?! Are you serious?
The 80′s must have been great.
