Wee Papa Girl Rappers Soulmate 1989

Along with acts like the Cookie Crew, Betty Boo, Monie Love and the She Rockers, the Wee Papa Girl Rappers were part of a first wave of female rappers within the British hip hop community to have significant commercial and UK Singles Chart success in the late 1980′s/early 1990′s.Originally signed to Jive Records – twin sisters Sandra Lawrence aka Total S and Samantha Lawrence aka TY Tim/Timmie, are best remembered for the single Wee Rule – ironically more inspired by and reggae and dancehall than rap/hip hop, which reached #6 on the UK Singles Chart in October 1988. Another one of their singles Heat it Up – featuring Two Men and A Drum Machine, was a very popular dance track which reached #21 on the UK Singles Chart in June 1988. It also featured an acid house/techno style remix from Inner City’s Kevin Saunderson which may have contributed to the popularity of the track at the time and they released two albums on the Jive label before splitting up. The duo got their name “Wee Papa” from the Saint Lucia French Creole expression “Oui Papa” which their father frequently uttered. Their father hailed from the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. However both at the time and now the group is viewed with a certain amount of embarrassment by the British hip hop community because of its pop oriented approach.However, as part of the first groups to break through into the mainstream in Britain, the group brought this new style of music to the attention of a wider audience and helped the

Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan (Hindi: , Urdu: , pronounced [slmn xn]; born 27 December 1965) is an Indian film actor who appears in Bollywood films. Khan, who made his acting debut with the film Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), had his first commercial success with the blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), and won a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his performance. He went on to star in some of Bollywood’s most successful films, such as Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Biwi No.1 (1999), having appeared in the highest earning films of five separate years during his career. In 1999, Khan won a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his extended appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and since then has starred in several critical and commercial successes, including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Tere Naam (2003), No Entry (2005) Partner (2007) and Wanted (2009). Khan has thus established himself as one of the most prominent leading actors of Hindi cinema.
