Bangles – No Mag Commercial. Short audio commercial recorded by the Bangles for LA underground zine called ‘No Mag’. Released on ‘The Radio Tokyo Tapes’, a compilation of early 1980s LA bands. The song is actually a variation of their song “Getting Out Of Hand” with different lyrics about ‘No Mag’ and was actually recorded when the Bangles were still known as the Bangs. It was at the release party for No Magazine’s issue, Vol. 2, No. 7, which featured an interview with The Bangs themselves, that the girls had re-written and performed the first verse and chorus of their tune “Getting Out Of Hand”, to coincide with the magazine. No-Mag co-founder Bruce Karlberg was so impressed that he had The Bangs record their new version and it was distributed on LA radio for what is now considered their infamous “No-Mag Radio Commercial”. Sorry for the quality loss in the transfer, was best I could do with the old tape. according to the imdb this was made by Mamoru Oshii, maker of the Patlabor and Ghost in the Shell movies, allegedly(Imdb often wrong!).
